Ebola Craze and a bitter smile

Last night, I met a girl from Africa. When I asked her where she was from, she replied "Kenya, no Ebola" with a kind of a bitter smile on her face.

She laughed for just a few seconds and although I did not ask anything about her ''ebola'' comment, she started telling me about all those people who seemed scared of her just because she was African; those people who kept on asking her whether she had visited her homeland recently, while moving some steps back.

This short incident took place in The Netherlands, a wealthy Western country with 0 Ebola cases and a great health care system. It's about high time this Ebola paranoia ended, before fear unveils some of the darkest parts of human nature.

Better ''manic'' than sorry? No thanks.
